Coming Soon - The Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0

Something beautiful is taking shape behind the machine, and I can’t wait to share it with you. ✨

Coming soon through The Quilted Tee x The Crafty Author is a custom handmade version of the Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0, using the pattern designed by Annie Patterns/byAnnie.

This post is just a first look: a little peek at the color, details, and thoughtful organization that make this bag such a special project. Customization will be available soon, but for now, I’m delighted to let you enjoy the preview.

A travel bag with personality

When I make something by hand, I’m always thinking about more than the finished object. I’m thinking about where it might go, what it might carry, and the memories that will gather around it along the way.

A travel bag can become part of so many stories. It might accompany you on a weekend away, hold your essentials for a creative retreat, travel beside you to visit family, or become the dependable bag you reach for whenever life takes you somewhere new.

This particular version is full of joyful color. The floral fabric features warm peach and coral tones, playful animals, green leaves, and bright yellow blossoms. Teal accents add a lively contrast, while the pink-and-white checkerboard strap brings another cheerful layer of personality.

It feels both practical and wonderfully one-of-a-kind: the kind of handmade piece that makes an ordinary trip feel a little more special.

Thoughtful details from front to back

One of the things I love most about this bag is the way every side has been given purpose.

From the front, you can see the large floral panels, sturdy teal handles, a zippered pocket, and contrasting fabric details that frame the design. The quilting gives the exterior a soft, textured appearance while helping the bag hold its shape.

Open the bag, and the colorful personality continues inside. The lining features bold coral and pink stripes, along with a coordinating blue-gray fabric covered in small botanical and playful motifs. The combination makes the interior feel bright, welcoming, and easy to enjoy.

The design also includes pockets and compartments that make it easier to keep belongings organized. Instead of placing everything into one deep space and searching for it later, you have dedicated areas for the little things you want close at hand.

That kind of organization is especially meaningful when you’re traveling with items you need to find quickly. A wallet, sewing supplies, a book, personal essentials, or a small project can each have a place of their own.

A closer look inside

The inside is where this bag’s practical side really shines.

This view shows a generous main compartment, a bright fabric base, and a large mesh zippered pocket across the interior. Mesh makes it possible to see what is tucked away, while the zipper helps keep smaller items secure.

I appreciate details like this because they make a handmade bag feel truly useful. Beauty draws us in, but thoughtful construction is what makes us reach for the same bag again and again.

The Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0 pattern by Annie Patterns is designed around organization, with pockets placed throughout the bag. According to the official byAnnie pattern listing, the design includes exterior zippered and slip pockets, side pockets, interior slip pockets, and a full-length interior zippered pocket.

Those details belong to Annie Patterns’ original design. The Quilted Tee and The Crafty Author are not the designers of the pattern; our role is to create a custom handmade version using Annie Patterns’ pattern and bring a distinctive fabric combination to life.

Made for creative journeys

As someone who loves handmade work, I know that a bag can be more than a way to carry things. It can be part of the creative life itself.

Imagine taking it to a quilting class, a sewing day, a retreat, or a weekend visit with a friend. Imagine opening it beside your favorite chair, filling it with a project, or setting it down in a sunny room while you decide what to work on next.

The floral fabric makes this bag feel especially cheerful, but future customization will give you the opportunity to look for a combination that feels like you. Whether your style leans toward bright colors, peaceful neutrals, bold prints, vintage-inspired fabrics, or something entirely unexpected, fabric choices can tell a story before a single word is spoken.

That is one of my favorite parts of custom handmade work. The materials become personal. The colors remind you of something. A print catches your eye because it feels familiar. A small accent fabric adds a bit of fun that only you understand.

Carry it your way

This bag also offers several ways to carry it.

The photos show sturdy handles, a detachable-looking adjustable shoulder strap, and a back design that includes a sleeve intended to work with rolling luggage. These details give the bag flexibility, whether you prefer to carry it by hand or use the longer strap.

The teal handles create a strong visual frame around the floral design. They also add a playful, almost scalloped-looking accent that makes the bag feel different from a standard travel piece. The pink checkerboard strap brings softness and energy, tying the coral and pink tones together beautifully.

From the front to the back, this is a bag designed to be noticed: but it is still grounded in function. That balance is what makes it such an exciting project to preview.

A handmade piece in progress

Behind every finished bag are hours of careful work: choosing fabrics, considering how prints will meet, sewing layers together, installing zippers, shaping panels, checking seams, and making sure the details feel just right.

That behind-the-machine process is where the heart of handmade work lives.

I love watching separate pieces become something with purpose. A length of fabric becomes a pocket. A strip becomes a handle. A zipper becomes easy access to the things you need. Stitch by stitch, the project changes from an idea into a lasting companion.

The Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0 is a project created from an Annie Patterns/byAnnie design, and this preview celebrates both the thoughtful pattern and the custom fabric choices used in this handmade version. You can learn more about the original design through the official Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0 pattern page, including the designer’s own information about the bag and its construction.

At The Quilted Tee, I’m always drawn to useful handmade items: pieces that can become part of everyday life instead of sitting forgotten on a shelf. Customization coming soon

Customization for the Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0 will be available soon through The Quilted Tee x The Crafty Author.

For now, this is simply a coming-soon preview. We are not sharing ordering details, pricing, or a release date yet. When more information is ready, we’ll share it here and through our regular updates.

What I can share is that the goal is to create a bag that feels personal, carefully made, and ready to become part of your story. A bag for the places you’re going, the projects you’re carrying, and the memories you’ll make along the way.

Thank you for joining me behind the machine and taking this first look. There is something wonderfully exciting about showing a project before it is ready: when the details are still fresh, the possibilities are still open, and the finished story has not yet been written.

More soon. Keep on craftin’! 💕
