Coming Soon - The Ultimate Tool Bag
There are some sewing projects that make you smile before the first zipper is even sewn. The Quilted Tee x The Crafty Author is proud to offer a custom handmade version of the Running With Scissors Bag, made using the Running With Scissors pattern by Annie Patterns.
I created this handmade project bag for makers who love their tools, their fabric, and the satisfying feeling of having everything in its place. It is colorful, practical, and full of the small details that make a handmade piece feel truly one-of-a-kind. Using the Annie Patterns design as the foundation, I chose cheerful turquoise and lime green fabrics along with lively floral, bee, and butterfly-inspired prints to bring a little joy to every sewing session. ✨
This is a coming-soon preview, so I’m not sharing a release date, price, dimensions, or ordering details just yet. For now, I’m excited to give you a closer look at the craftsmanship and thoughtful organization behind this special project bag.
A Project Bag Made for Makers
As the heart and hands behind The Quilted Tee, I know how quickly a creative workspace can become wonderfully: and sometimes frustratingly: full. Scissors disappear beneath fabric. Marking tools roll away. Clips gather in little piles. Rotary cutters, rulers, thread, and notions all seem to need their own special place.
That is where a well-designed project bag makes such a difference.
This custom handmade version, made using the Annie Patterns design, is created to help keep sewing and crafting supplies together, protected, and easy to find. Instead of digging through a large tote or searching across your sewing table, you can open the bag and see your tools at a glance.
The outside is bright and inviting, but the inside is where the practical magic really happens.

A Colorful Exterior with Handmade Character
I chose a lively combination of fabrics for this bag because practical does not have to mean plain.
The turquoise background brings a calm, cheerful foundation, while the large lime-green circles add a playful pop of color. Across the upper portion, the floral fabric is filled with rich greens, soft blues, warm reds, and tiny bee motifs. A coordinating strip of purple fabric adds another layer of pattern and personality.
The result feels bright without being overwhelming: a little bit whimsical, a little bit garden-inspired, and completely at home in a sewing room.
Every part of the exterior was carefully quilted to add texture and structure. The rounded corners soften the shape, while the sturdy binding gives the bag a finished edge and helps it hold its form. Even the handle is designed to coordinate with the rest of the bag, making it easy to carry from a sewing room to a class, retreat, community craft night, or a cozy corner at home.
And, of course, there is a special handmade label at the center. Details like that are one of my favorite parts of creating: the little touches that quietly remind you this was made by hand, stitch by stitch.
Open It Up and See Everything at Once

When the bag opens flat, you can see how much thought went into its organization.
There are multiple zippered sections for supplies that need to stay secure, along with clear vinyl pockets that make it easy to spot smaller tools and notions without opening every compartment. Clear pockets are especially helpful for items like clips, marking tools, rulers, needles, and other supplies that can easily get lost in a fabric pouch.
The interior also includes mesh storage, giving you another way to separate supplies while keeping them visible. Fabric pockets provide a soft home for items you may not want stored in vinyl, and the different pocket styles make it easier to create an arrangement that works for your own creative habits.
One of the most useful features is the collection of tool loops. These loops help hold tools upright and in place, whether you are organizing pens, seam rippers, small scissors, turning tools, or other frequently used supplies. Instead of everything gathering together at the bottom of a bag, your most-used tools can stay right where your hands expect them to be.
The center section includes additional elastic loops in a bright pink accent color. They add a fun contrast to the surrounding fabrics while providing secure storage for narrow or cylindrical tools.
This is the kind of organization that makes a project feel more enjoyable: not because it changes the sewing itself, but because it removes some of the unnecessary searching and fussing between steps.
Clear Pockets for a Better View of Your Supplies

I especially love the way the clear vinyl pockets work with the rest of the interior.
They provide visibility while still keeping your supplies contained. You can quickly see what is inside, check whether a tool is missing, and keep small items from drifting around your workspace. The vinyl also adds a lovely bit of shine against the soft quilted fabric.
Working with clear vinyl requires patience and precision. It is not handled exactly like ordinary cotton fabric, and it rewards careful stitching, thoughtful placement, and a steady hand. The binding around the pocket edges gives the vinyl a neat, finished appearance while helping it blend beautifully into the quilted interior.
That balance: durable function with colorful handmade beauty: is at the heart of the bag.
The Removable Pressing Tool Pouch: A Handy Little Extra
Another feature I’m excited to show you is the removable pressing tool pouch.
This extra pouch uses the same cheerful floral fabric as the main bag, framed with the coordinating turquoise grid fabric. It is designed to hold pressing supplies and can be used inside the larger case or carried separately, depending on what you need for the day.
A removable pressing tool pouch is especially useful for the tools you reach for during pressing and prep work. You might use it for items like a small pressing cloth, point presser tools, stiletto-style tools, or other compact pressing supplies you want to keep together. You could also remove it when you want a little more flexibility inside the main case.
The bright fabric makes it easy to find, too: which is always welcome when your sewing table is covered with colorful fabric and half-finished ideas.
Designed for Sewing, Crafting, and Creative Days
Although the name includes “Scissors,” this handmade bag, made using the Annie Patterns design, is meant to hold much more than one pair of scissors.
It is a practical companion for:
- Rotary cutters and small rulers
- Marking pens and pencils
- Seam rippers and turning tools
- Thread, clips, and sewing notions
- Hand-stitching or embroidery supplies
- Small quilting tools
- Crafting tools you want to keep together
- Supplies for classes, retreats, and portable projects
